Spectra® Rope
Ultra-High molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers yield very high strength and cut resistant ropes often facilitating replacement of steel cables at one tenth their weight. Novatec Braids specifies Spectra©900 Yarn from Honeywell for construction of its high performance ropes Polyspec, Novalite HP, Spectec and Weighted Fast Rope. Spectra© 1000 is also available for special higher tensile applications.
Able to withstand extremely high visco-elastic strain and high-load strain rate velocities, this unique fiber is simultaneously light enough to float, exhibits extraordinary resistance to water, UV light and chemicals. Novalite HP - NOVALITE HIGH PERFORMANCE is a double braided rope constructed with a multi-filament polypropylene (MFP) cover and a blend of Spectra and MFP in the core.
Polyspec - POLYSPEC is a double braided rope constructed with a 100% polyester cover and a 100% urethane coated Spectra® core. It is designed for general marine, industrial, and commercial applications. . .
Spectec 12 - SPECTEC-12™ is a hollow braided 12-strand rope using 100% Spectra® fiber. It is designed with single ply construction up to 11/2" nominal size and two ply in larger diameters.
Weighted Fast Ropes - Novatec's proprietary fast rope is designed to minimize rope motion in high wind and downwash insertion or rescue operations. Options include Spectra personnel or gear attachment loops. Ref. NSN-4020-20-004-3920. Patent Pending.
